Urban Fantasy
I felt the cool breeze prickling on my skin. My lips were dry and cracked, after one of those creatures slobbered all over my face. They left me there for hours!
This isn’t the first time I’ve been on an operating table. I mean, it was much worse than being here in this stellar insane asylum. You must postpone this operation! You believe me. Don’t you!?
It really happened. I was in a spaceship with an incredible foul smell of urine and feces. They looked human but they weren’t. Every now and then I got a glimpse of their faces, but it was never clear enough to identify them.
There were about three or five of them wearing long, hooded white coats. Their skin looked burnt and scarred. Some of them had stitches and tattoos... I can’t remember.
I don’t want to remember! Please, get me out of here! I just want to go home. I want to see my kids and husband. They must be worried sick about me.
Wait!
Don’t sedate me! I’ll calm down and tell you more. (Gasp!)
Silver, black, white... It was both dark and bright. There were white neon lights stationed above each chilly, battered platinum surgical table. I had goosebumps all over my pale skin, but...
(Laughs.) They didn’t care.
(Doctor knocks at the door.) No!
Nurse Edgar, tell Doctor Moniz we need more time. I beg you. (Crying.) Thank you!
What does she need to know? Another incision won’t be necessary... Maybe, we can find the spaceship and I can prove to you that it really happened. I swear!
I don’t know what the hooded beasts wanted, but I... I noticed a small opening at the lower end of the spaceship. We never lifted off the ground.
I knew that was my chance to escape. One of the brutes got in trouble for his bungling of my case. They misplaced a sharp blue ice pick-like instrument and heavy-duty red handheld hammer.
I felt nauseous and weak. I haven’t eaten much since... While they were arguing, I managed to get off the bone-chilling silver metal table. I fell to the floor and crawled my way out into the wilderness. I went as far as I could go.
After that I lost consciousness. All I remember is that you found me. You must be God-sent! You must believe that I’m not a runaway. I was abducted; I was on my way to a small book shop, when those dingy predators took me.
I have a wonderful family that is waiting for me to return home. No! Not the anesthesia again; I’m not insane. Please... You must believe me.
What’s that? That tattoo on your wrist. It looks familiar. Well, don’t hide it. Show me!
(Knocks at the door.) What’s going on? (Shivering.) Stay with me, please. What are they saying? Who is that man talking to Doctor Moniz?
His coat looks very much like those of the hooded beasts. And... I never noticed that scar on your face.
